travel writing
Traveling brings out the adventurous side in us. At least, it did for me. I'm not sure when else I would have had the guts to taste guinea pig or ride piled up in the back of a truck through windy mountain roads. As travelers, we immerse ourselves in so many rich, new experiences. This exploratory mindset with which we travel opens up so many doors in our writing. As we notice our surroundings, we make more connections with the world and ultimately have more about which to write. And when we do write in this frame of mind, we allow ourselves to take risks that we might not otherwise take.
While in Ecuador, we capitalized on this with personal daily journals. I have also completed the writing assignments which are compiled into my final portfolio for this class. The connection I have with this writing is deeper than any other I had previously had in English classes; perhaps because I was noticing so much more closely how I was feeling and was able to capture this in my writing.
